저자서문
매일 매일 변화를 꿈꾸며 살다 보니 개업을 하고 만 10년이 지난 지금 돌이켜 보면 참 모든 것이 많이 변한 거 같다. 이런 변화의 원동력은 실수를 반복하지 않으려고 하고 실수의 원인을 찾아서 해결하는 습관이 아니었나 싶다. 임상에서의 실수를 가장 잘 알 수 있는 방법은 임상사진이라고 생각한다. 당시에는 완벽해 보이던 치료결과도 사진으로 다시 보면 아쉬운 점이 잘 드러나기 때문이다. 그래서 얼마 전부터 서투른 솜씨로 찍기 시작한 사진들을 엮어 간단한 임상사진집을 준비했다.
나는 이 책을 집필하면서 많이 망설였다. 나보다 훨씬 훌륭하시고 솜씨 좋으신 많은 치과의사 선생님들이 계신 것을 알고 있기 때문이다. 처음부터 책을 만들기 위한 임상사진이 아니다 보니 부족하고 아쉬운 점이 너무 많다. 하지만 심미적 관점에서의 저자 나름대로의 해석을 눈 여겨 봐 주길 바란다.
날로 증가하는 환자들의 심미적 욕구를 충족시켜 주기 위해 이런 저런 노력들을 하다가 내린 결론은 무엇보다 심미치료는 치과의사의 관점에 맞추어 치료하기 보다는 환자의 관점에서 치료해야 한다는 것이었다. 환자의 목표를 항상 귀 기울여 듣고 그 목표가 달성 가능한 지 그렇지 않은지를 알려주고 치료에 적극 참고해야 심미치료는 성공적일 수 있다.
그러다 보니 환자들의 요구에 따른 치아를 직접 왁스로 디자인하게 되었고 이상하게도 상당수의 요즘 환자들이 원하는 치아디자인이 어떤 유사한 형태를 가진다는 것을 알게 되었다. 그래서 그 치아디자인을 ‘다빈치’라고 이름을 붙였다.
치과분야를 art and science라고 하는데 나야말로 실감나게 예술과 의술을 넘나드는 치료를 하고 있는 거 같다. 아이러니하게도 패션디자이너가 꿈이었던 나는 매일 환자들의 치아를 디자인하며 살아가고 있다. 나에게 심미치료를 의뢰하는 환자의 얼굴을 이렇게 저렇게 뜯어보면서 상상의 나래를 펼쳐 잘 어울리는 형태를 잡아가는 것이 나의
매일의 행복이 되어 버렸다.
얼굴과 치아와의 관계를 유심히 보게 되면서 치아의 각도,배열 그리고 악궁의 모양이 얼마나 사람의 인상에서 많은 효과를 주는 지 알게 되었다. 안타까운 것은 보다 많은 얼굴사진을 쓰지 못했다는 점이지만 그나마 초상권을 허락하신 몇 분의 사진을 싣을 수 있게 된 것을 감사한다.
무엇보다도 환자의 얼굴을 분석함에 있어서 많은 도움을 준 성형외과 황성호 원장님께 고마움의 말을 전하고 싶다. 이 책을 집필함에 있어서 많은 용기를 주고 응원을 아끼지 않은 손원준 선생님과 이인한 선생님, 그리고 책의 출판을 도와주신 나래출판사 최용원 사장님께 경의를 표한다. 그리고 항상 부족한 나를 응원해 주는 다빈치치과 전직원과 특별히 밤을 새어 가며 작업을 마다하지 않은 윤상희 기공사를 비롯한 기공실 직원들에게 다시 한 번 감사의 글을 올리고 싶다.

Preface
Everyday I have been dreaming of change, and today I realize that already ten years have passed since the opening of my private practice and I feel that already so much have transformed since then. The reason and motive for this change I believe is that I've tried so hard not to repeat the same mistakes and challenged myself to find the cause of the problem and solve it. Even if at the time the results from the final treatment seemed perfect seeing it once more one is able to see through clinical photos the imperfections. So since then I have taken some unprofessional photos and have assembled a simple clinical photo book.
As I was writing this book I have been very hesitant because I know for a fact that there are so many more experienced and excellent dentists than I. From the beginning my intention wasn't to make a book collection of just clinical pictures and in so, it is in many ways lacking. So I urge you to observe closely from an aesthetic view point and of the writer's own interpretation.
In treating and fulfilling the increasing demands of patients, I have come to the conclusion that aesthetic treatment should not be focused on the dentist's perspective but from the view of the patient. We should be able to listen carefully to the patients needs and to inform them the possibility of being able to achieve their goals and objectives. It is vital to respect the patient's wishes. Complying with the patients demands I have molded and designed the teeth with wax and in doing so have strangely realized that the majority of patients today desires the similar teeth form in resemblance. And so I have labeled this design as, 'Davinci'.
In the expertise of dentistry one can call this field as art and science, I'm actually wavering back and forth in the treatment of medicine and art. Ironically It has been my dream to be a fashion designer and now everyday I live designing teeth!!! As I observe the faces of patients who seek my aesthetic advise, I look here and there imagining how the make over would be, that in itself has given me great joy.
As I have been researching the relationship of the face and the teeth, I've come to know the importance of the angle and arrangement of teeth and it's arch form and it's effect on defining one's impression.
Firstly, I would like to thank those people who have allowed me to use their photos and I am frustrated to have not been able to use more facial photographs.
Most of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Dr. of Plastic Surgeon, Sung Ho Hwang for his help in detailed analysis of facial structure. 이한나원장의 다빈치 디자인 FAQ
다빈치(Davinci, 多彬齒) 라는 이름은 이한나원장이 보다 작은 치아삭제로 보다 아름다운 치아를 만들기 위한 노력에서 시작된 개념입니다.
이전의 초창기 라미네이트는 포세린파우더를 일일이 적층으로 올려서 소성하는 방식으로 만들어지게 되었는데 그럴 경우 치아의 특징을 보다 더 잘 표현하기 위해 여러겹의 층이 필요했어요. 그렇기 때문에 더 많은 공간을 위한 치아삭제를 해야 했죠.
하지만, 이한나원장은 2002년부터 자신이 만들고자 하는 치아의 모양을 일일이 직접 왁스로 형태를 만들면서 아주 얇게 코팅하는 방식으로도 충분히 아름다운 결과에 이를 수 있다는 것을 알게 되었어요.
그리고 적층포세린방식이 아닌 주조방식의 세라믹을 얇게 한겹으로 만들게 되면서 보다 적은 치아삭제로 형태를 구현하게 되었죠. 그렇게 해서 만들어진 치아디자인개념이 ‘다빈치’입니다.
지금은 주조법이 아닌 밀링법을 이용하지만 같은 개념의 치료를 지금까지 계속적으로 발전시켜 오고 있는 것입니다. 이제는 치아보존 뿐 아니라 시간적으로도 보다 빠르게 치료할 수 있어 더욱 더 스마트한 치료가 되었지요.
그런 것은 아닙니다. 치료전 환자의 스마일을 미리 디자인해서 거기에 필요한 최소한의 양으로 치아를 다듬고 아름답게 치료한다면 다빈치가 될 수 있는 것입니다.
이한나원장이 주장하는 다빈치의 컨셉은 굳이 두껍게 만들지 않아도 아름다운 치아를 만들 수 있다는 것에 있기 때문입니다.
네, 다른 내용입니다. 라미네이트는 치료기법을 두고 말하는 것이고, 다빈치는 치아디자인방식을 두고 말하는 것입니다. 비슷하게 보이지만 완전 다른 것입니다.
라미네이트는 세라믹을 치아에 접착시켜서 치아의 모양이나 색상을 변경해 주는 모든 치료를 통틀어서 지칭하는 것이고, 다빈치는 보다 심플하게 한 겹의 세라믹으로 치아를 디자인하는 방식을 두고 말하는 것입니다.
