GBT dental cleaning in Gangnam: maintenance matters
“Treatment matters, but helping patients maintain their oral health afterward matters even more to me.” — Dr. Hanna Lee
With gratitude to the nearly 30,000 patients who have visited Harue, we created our GBT professional maintenance center to care for oral health after treatment is completed. We have prepared specialist equipment and trained staff to make scaling less uncomfortable where possible, so that concern about cleaning does not become a reason to put off care.
GBT stands for Guided Biofilm Therapy. It focuses on managing oral biofilm through a systematic approach to prevention, treatment and maintenance tailored to the patient’s condition. The EMS official GBT guide explains the protocol and its indications.
Gum-focused professional care
We give adult gum health particular attention and connect clinic-based care with your daily routine at home.
Personalized home-care guidance
Brushing techniques and the choice of toothpaste, toothbrushes and other oral-care products are adapted to each patient.
A recall plan that fits you
Everyone’s ability to manage daily care differs. We consider oral health and home-care ability when suggesting follow-up visits, and you can ask what care to arrange after your trip.

Teeth whitening in Seoul: what happens during your visit?
01 · Check tooth shade and oral health
We assess the starting tooth shade, staining and gum condition. Cavities and existing sensitivity are considered when deciding whether whitening is appropriate.

02 · Protect the gums and apply whitening gel
After protecting the gums, we apply whitening gel and perform three 15-minute applications: 45 minutes of active whitening. Whitening gel is reapplied between applications.
The consultation, examination and reapplication time are separate. Your total visit will take longer than 45 minutes, and the full GBT + whitening appointment time needs to be confirmed in advance.

03 · Review the result and discuss further whitening
We review the tooth-shade change after the visit. The degree of whitening varies. A brighter target shade may require additional whitening visits; we decide how many after assessing the result and your teeth’s response.
Before your whitening consultation
Tell us your preferred brightness, important dates such as photographs or events, coffee and smoking habits, any previous tooth sensitivity, and whether you have crowns, veneers or resin restorations.
Actual single-visit whitening photographs

Clinical experience and a dedicated clinic
Dr. Hanna Lee has practiced clinically since 1994. The clinic opened in 1995, and our approach brings treatment planning together with long-term maintenance.
Harue’s clinic includes a ground-floor lobby, treatment rooms on the second and third floors and an in-house laboratory in the basement. Our existing clinic guide explains the facilities, equipment and instrument-care procedures.

Traveler’s Smile Care FAQ
Can I book dental care while visiting Seoul?
Yes. Contact our international patient support before your visit.
Share your travel dates, preferred appointment date and whether you want teeth whitening alone or the GBT + teeth whitening package. We will confirm availability and the treatment plan after reviewing your needs.
How much do the treatments cost?
Teeth whitening is ₩99,000; GBT + teeth whitening is ₩200,000.
Both prices are in South Korean won (KRW). Ask us to confirm the package’s VAT treatment and any additional charges before booking. The price of whitening alone is for one visit. Additional whitening visits are ₩99,000 each, as listed on our Korean whitening page.
How long should I allow for the appointment?
Please confirm the total appointment time with the clinic before arranging your itinerary.
The whitening portion involves three 15-minute applications, for 45 minutes of active whitening. Consultation, examination, reapplication time and GBT cleaning add time; 45 minutes is not the duration of the complete package.
Is language support or an interpreter included?
Please ask us to confirm language support when you book.
Tell us your preferred language. Interpreter availability, arrangements and any associated costs have not been confirmed for this package.
Why does maintenance matter after dental treatment?
Ongoing care helps you look after your oral health after treatment.
At Harue, I place importance on helping patients maintain their teeth and gums after treatment is complete. Our GBT center supports this care through professional gum care and advice for daily routines.
What is GBT dental cleaning?
GBT means Guided Biofilm Therapy, a structured approach to biofilm-focused prevention and maintenance.
The protocol is adapted to a patient’s oral condition. Professional cleaning and teeth whitening serve different purposes: cleaning supports oral hygiene, while whitening aims to change the shade of natural teeth. See the EMS official guide linked above.
I am worried about painful scaling. Can I discuss this?
Yes. Tell us about sensitivity or discomfort you experienced during previous cleaning.
Our GBT center has specialist equipment and trained staff to help reduce the burden of scaling. We assess your teeth and gums and discuss concerns before treatment; comfort varies between patients.
Will you help me choose a toothbrush and other oral-care products?
Yes. We explain brushing techniques and how to choose suitable oral-care products.
Advice includes toothbrushes, toothpaste and other tools, tailored to your oral condition and ability to care for your teeth at home.
How often should I return for maintenance?
The recommended interval depends on your oral condition and home-care routine.
We consider your gum health and how you manage daily oral care rather than applying one interval to everyone. If you are a visitor, ask what ongoing care to arrange after returning home.
Is one whitening visit enough?
It depends on your starting shade, staining and desired brightness.
Some patients are satisfied after one visit; others may need repeat treatment for a brighter shade or deeper discoloration. The photographs show individual cases and do not promise the same shade change for every patient.
Can I repeat whitening during a short trip?
Repeat treatment may be possible, depending on your teeth, gums and sensitivity.
Our Korean whitening guide recommends intervals as short as two days, meaning one rest day between visits, when clinically appropriate. The dentist determines the interval and number of visits after reviewing your response. The three applications during one appointment are different from three separate visits.
Can whitening cause sensitivity?
Yes. Sensitivity can occur and is usually temporary.
Tell us about existing sensitivity, cavities or gum problems before treatment. We consider your oral condition when discussing whether whitening is suitable and how to manage discomfort.
Will crowns, veneers or resin fillings become whiter?
Whitening changes natural tooth color; restorations may retain their existing color.
This may leave a shade difference between natural teeth and crowns, veneers or resin restorations. Please mention existing dental work during consultation so that we can plan appropriately.
How long will the whitening result last?
Whitening is not permanent, and the length of time varies.
Coffee, tea, wine, smoking and oral-care habits can affect later staining. Follow the advice provided after treatment, monitor tooth color and gum health, and discuss further whitening if needed.
